Domestic violence, kidnapping: Shocking details behind Fresno crash that left 6,000 without power

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police say a man intentionally rammed a motorbike carrying his ex-girlfriend, kidnapped her, and then collided with a power pole, causing several explosions and an outage.

Officers identified the suspect as 44-year-old Jeramy Crisp.

Officials say the collision sparked a fire and caused several explosions, all caught by an Action News camera.

The power pole up in flames is located near Hughes and Whitesbridge Avenues.

But Fresno police say that crash that led to the outage was near the end of an hourlong confrontation between three people involving domestic violence, kidnapping and assault.

It all started when Crisp intentionally rammed his Chevy Tahoe into a motorcycle, sending two people flying onto the street and causing significant injuries, according to police.

Investigators believe Crisp had previously dated the woman on the back of the bike.

Police say he then got into a physical altercation with the man on the motorbike.

According to police, Crisp then grabbed and dragged the woman into his Chevy Tahoe and raced away, driving erratically.

A few blocks away, he lost control and crashed into the power pole, sending power lines down to the ground and setting the power pole on fire.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 180 were shut down between Marks and Hughes on Tuesday night just west of the Highway 99 and 180 interchange for everyone's safety.

Detectives at the second crash site detained Crisp there and say he is expected to face charges for assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping.

The woman and man on the motorcycle are now in the hospital for serious injuries.
